The Oscars of the Housing Industry
Roll out the red carpet because on 26th April the luxurious Landmark Hotel in London’s Marylebone was the dazzling setting for the final of the First Time Buyers’ Readers Awards 2013, celebrating the very best in the housing industry. Hosted by television presenter Nicki Chapman, the day highlighted the very best of the UK’s properties available for first time buyers from both affordable housing providers and private developers. The 12 different categories included private developer of the year, which was won by Taylor Wimpey who showed a great commitment to quality, sustainability and customer service. Plumlife whose mantra is ‘the customer is king!’ won the coveted affordable housing provider of the year. Other categories included the most eco-aware project, which is so important in today’s environment. This was won by Lovell for their Vivo development, which was specially designed to promote sustainable living. A very popular category was the most imaginative marketing campaign and the winner Moat, used very innovative, cost-effective and clever ideas to promote their Stanhope development. New to this year’s categories was The Best Law Firm for Conveyancing. It was won by Beaumont Legal who has tailored a service specifically for first time buyers. Highly Commended were the Cavendish Legal Group who offers first timers fixed fees. A panel of expert judges including Roger Southam, a very well-known industry figure throughout the residential property management sectors, and architect Marcus Wilshere who specialises in creating liveable neighbourhoods, initially looked at the record number of entries to create the shortlist. Roger, who has judged the Awards several times before, commented. “The standard of entries this year was extremely high and it is a credit to the property industry that everyone is helping the market and in particular first time buyers.” The Awards were then decided by the readers’ who vote online. Lynda Clark, editor of First Time Buyer magazine said, “First time buyers are extremely important to the housing market and these Awards celebrate all the achievements and very hard work that has been put into finding people the security of owning their own home. When we first launched First Time Buyer magazine there was nowhere for would-be buyers to turn to go for information, help and advice to get a foot on the ladder. We have bridged that gap and it is good to see many positive steps from the government, the housing associations and the private developers to help more and more first timers to buy their dream home.” |
